Shannon Forrey
Science Communications Manager
Shannon Forrey is the Science Communications Manager at Schmidt Sciences, where she supports organizational communications efforts and helps translate forward-looking science, innovation, and technology initiatives into compelling narratives that enable diverse audiences to understand the significance and real-world impact of complex research.
With nearly two decades of experience in NGO and science communications, her work focuses on shaping strategies that make technical subject matter accessible, relevant, and engaging. She contributes to efforts that bring together storytelling, digital strategy, and project management—helping guide communications from concept through execution across disciplines spanning ocean exploration, space science, climate research, and emerging technologies.
Prior to Schmidt Sciences, she led social and digital media at OceanX, supporting global storytelling efforts around ocean discovery and conservation. She also held roles at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, where she contributed to public engagement and digital communications for flagship Earth science missions and supported the growth of NASA’s global digital platforms.
She holds a Bachelor of Science in Advertising and is completing a Master of Science in Space Studies, with academic work focused on space law and policy, human factors in extreme environments, and augmented reality applications for spacesuit systems through the NASA SUITS program.
