I am an assistant professor in the Language Technologies Institute within the School of Computer Science at Carnegie Mellon University, as well as an affiliate of CMU’s Machine Learning Department and the CyLab Security and Privacy Institute. I am also a senior research scientist at Google Deepmind where I have worked on several large team projects, including Google’s PaLM and Gemma language models. I received my PhD from University of Pennsylvania in 2022. My research interests include privacy and security issues in large language model systems, the relationship between training data and language model capabilities, and methods for improving the usability of language models for diverse tasks.
