Justin Solomon is an associate professor in MIT’s Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS). He leads the Geometric Data Processing (GDP) group within MIT’s Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL). Solomon completed his education at Stanford University, where he received a BS in Mathematics and Computer Science, an MS in Computer Science, and a PhD in Computer Science. He also was an NSF Mathematical Sciences Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Princeton University’s Program in Applied and Computational Mathematics.

Solomon and the MIT GDP team study a wide range of problems in applied geometry, from two- and three-dimensional problems in computer graphics to high-dimensional problems in statistics and optimization. Their work has found application in 3D modeling, machine learning, medical imaging, autonomous driving, and even political redistricting.
