Aditya Nandy is a AI+Science Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Chicago, working at the intersection of biophysics, computer science, and chemistry with Professors Suriyanarayanan Vaikuntanathan, Benoit Roux, and Eduardo Perozo. Prior to this position, Aditya earned his Ph.D. at MIT as a NSF Graduate Research Fellow. He received his B.S. in Chemical Engineering at UC Berkeley, where he was an experimental spectroscopist studying diffusion and adsorption of small molecules in porous materials. At MIT, Aditya pivoted from experimental to computational research, learning more about computational chemistry, machine learning, and cheminformatics. With Professor Heather J. Kulik, he worked on problems scanning multiple length scales, ranging from small transition metal complexes containing as few as seven atoms, to large, periodic metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) containing tens of thousands of atoms. Aditya spends his free time promoting science via interactive demonstrations, developing open source code, and writing tutorials to make computational chemistry and cheminformatics more widely adopted by non-specialists.
