Professor Loretta Roberson is an Associate Scientist at the Marine Biological Laboratory in Woods Hole, MA. She received a B.S. in Biology at California State University Northridge and a Ph.D. in Biological Sciences from Stanford University. Her research focuses on the development of large-scale, offshore macro-algae farms and how they may be used to enhance biodiversity and protect sensitive ecosystems like coral reefs. She directs the tropical seaweed cultivation and harvesting project in Puerto Rico funded by the US Department of Energy and is the lead in the Sargassum pre-processing focus area in SaBRe to enhance the composition and quality of this new feedstock.
