Dr. Angela Ruohao Wu is an Associate Professor jointly appointed in the Division of Life Science and the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. A bioengineer trained at UC Berkeley and Stanford University, her expertise spans microfluidics, molecular biology, genomics, and bioinformatics. Her research group develops platform technologies that combine microfluidic tools (“hardware”) with genomic analysis (“software”) to enable quantitative measurement and analysis of complex biological systems. By bridging molecular-level interactions with system-wide behavior, her work advances fundamental biological understanding. Dr. Wu actively collaborates with experts across disciplines, leveraging these partnerships to tackle wide-ranging challenges. Her research spans cancer drug discovery, ecology and adaptation studies, and neuroscience. She is also an entrepreneur, and has co-founded two biotech companies including Agenovir, a genome editing-based antiviral therapeutics company, and Z-Omics, a company developing single-cell technology for target discovery.
