I am a researcher working at the interface of electrochemistry, materials science and machine learning to develop new renewable energy materials. The focus of my work is to develop approaches that convert problems in materials and surface science into problems of data science.

I completed a BSc Hons from the University of Edinburgh in 2014, where I was awarded the chemistry BSc prize. After this, I moved to Imperial College for an MRes in green chemistry in 2015, followed by a PhD in the Durrant group in 2020, working in collaboration with the Domen group (Univ. Tokyo). During this time I studied the the photochemistry and electronic structure of particulate photocatalysts used for light driven water splitting. For this work I was awarded the Imperial College Chemistry PhD prize.

After my PhD, I decided to change fields to electrochemistry where there exists a huge challenge of reducing a vast high demensional materials search space down to a much smaller functional design space. I designed an instrument capable of quickly extracting two key functional descriptors in a high throughput processes. MY current work focuses on developing AI approaches to processing and summarising this data.
