Neeraj completed his PhD in biochemistry and molecular biology from the University of California, Davis. He studied the molecular basis of host pathogen interaction using Arabidopsis and Pseudomonas as a model organism. As an American Heart Association Postdoc fellow at the Scripps research, Neeraj pivoted into circuit and behavioral neuroscience. He worked on deciphering the neural basis of cold adaptation in rodent models to understand how brain control important aspectof mammalian metabolism. Now as Eric and Wendy Schmidt AI in Science Postdoc fellow, Neeraj will work with Dr. Alan Saltiel, Dr. Li Ye and Dr. Mikhail Belkin to develop machine learning algorithms to understand the relationship between metabolism, neuronal activity and animal behavior. Understanding this relationship could help us develop new conceptual framework to create new therapeutic approaches towards multiple metabololic disorders.
