Dr. Styliani Avraamidou is the Duane and Dorothy Bluemke Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She holds an M.Eng. and a Ph.D. from the Department of Chemical Engineering at Imperial College London. She joined Texas A&M Energy Institute as a postdoctoral research associate before joining the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She recently received the International Society of Global Optimization (iSoGO) Young Researcher Award for her work on the solution of multi-level optimization problems. Her research lab focuses on expanding the limits of Chemical and Process Systems Engineering by developing tools for the understanding, analysis, and optimization of the circular economy supply chains, focusing on the supply chains of chemicals, plastics, and food. She has published over 65 papers, 5 book chapters, and a book, on her research considering the transition to renewable energy, supply chain modeling, resiliency, and the development of multi-level modeling and optimization approaches. Styliani is a member of the AIChE’s Institute for Sustainability managing board, and a Faculty Fellow of the Office of Sustainability at UW-Madison.
