Dr. Susu Zhang is an Assistant Professor of Psychology and Statistics at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, specializing in quantitative psychology and psychometrics. She holds a Ph.D. in Quantitative Psychology and master’s degrees in Quantitative Psychology and Applied Mathematics from the University of Illinois, alongside a B.A. in Psychology and Mathematics from Bryn Mawr College. Before joining UIUC in 2020, she was a Postdoctoral Research Scientist at Columbia University’s Department of Statistics.
Dr. Zhang’s research interests include process data analysis, latent variable modeling, adaptive design, and assessment development. Her work leverages advanced statistical techniques to improve educational measurement, cognitive diagnosis, and adaptive testing systems. She actively contributes to psychometric software development, including the hmcdm and ProcData R packages.
In partnership with Dr. Ziang Xiao, their funded project will build measurement theory grounded framework and tools to identify gaps in current AI benchmark research and scaffold novel AI benchmark creation.
