Distinguished Technology Fellow

Amotz Maimon is a Distinguished Technology Fellow at Schmidt Sciences, where he is responsible for leading several Science and Knowledge initiatives and providing broad technology guidance to other programs.

 

Prior to Schmidt Sciences, Amotz was a VP/Distinguished Engineer at Alexa – Amazon’s voice-based, AI driven digital assistant and companion. In Alexa, Amotz owned the technical vision, major initiatives, and architecture for the Alexa system. Amotz also led the Principle Engineers community and focused on diversity efforts in the engineering organization. Prior to joining Amazon, Amotz was the Chief Architect at Yahoo where he led Yahoo’s Technology Council and drove innovation and tech excellence. In his role as Chief Architect, Amotz was responsible for Yahoo’s technology strategy, architecture, and governance; including Yahoo’s private cloud platform, big data systems, and overall infrastructure. Prior to Yahoo, Amotz held several leadership roles at EMC’s Intelligent Information Group, and spent a decade as an entrepreneur and leader in early stage start-ups, including distributed software CDN, Online B2B e- commerce, and early-days web information portals.

 

Earlier in his career, he held various technical and management positions at Applied Materials and several other start-ups. Amotz has a BsC in Mathematics and Computer Science from Tel Aviv University, and an executive MBA from Pepperdine University.
